SPECIAL EVENTS at the festival:

DREAMS OF MAY - first public performance of this critically acclaimed play outside London.
It is a one woman play in poetry about loss and transition. The play takes place on a train where the woman’s memory is triggered by objects causing her to look over her life and confront her demons. This internal conversation is revealed to the audience through poetry and music, ultimately expressing a life of growth, and the discovery of a hope which allows the character to find her way forward. Written by SUE GUINEY Interview Starring ROSALIND CRESSY

STORIES DRUMMED TO POLAR SKIES by Siobhan Logan.
Exclusive and specially rewritten version of the dazzling fusion of poetry and science spectacular. The original version of 'Stories Drummed to Polar Skies' was performed at the National Science Museum and the Richard Attenborough Centre. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/siobhan.logan1/

CONFIRMED TO GIVE WORKSHOPS:

Carole Baldock:
Cinnamon Press:
Small Press Publishing (no maximum place limit)
Sally Clark: "A Hole to See The Sky Through And Find a Poem In." Led by Sally Clark this writing workshop will explore holes: from black holes, bolt holes, man holes to holes in your socks. Holes can be both a trap and an escape, framing what we experience of the world. With examples of views through holes from poets, philosophers, journalists, and sculptors plus a chance to make and use a few holes of your own, just bring pen and paper and let the holes provide the inspiration.
Angela France: 'Speaking through the Mask' - writing as persona. (20 places)
Nick Carbo:
Rosemary Dun:
Poetry From Nowhere - how to write poetry when you're uninspired. You've got a deadline, or you have a nub of an idea which won't develop, or you just want to write a poem, and your muse appears to have deserted you. Come along and discover how to bring forth your poetry. Prepare to be bold and have fun. Workshop led by Rosemary Dun, lecturer, poet, writer and performer, MA Creative Writing. (15 places)
Rosie Garland (aka Rosie Lugosi!): Performance Poetry
Sonia Hendy-Isaac: Slam Poetry
Matt Merritt: Poetry and Place: look at making poetry from your immediate locality, taking in geography, local history, etc. (15 - 20 places available)
Mike Wilson: “Why do poets die younger than other writers?’ Research has shown that, of all writers (fiction, biography etc.) it’s the poets that are likely to die earlier than the rest – this seems to be the case world-wide, and is not necessarily just about famous and infamous suicides we’ve heard about... It’s about you and me! Mike Wilson looks at the poet’s fascination with the lure of death and the prosaic facts behind the morbid flights of fantasy. Not for the faint-hearted.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Thus far, there is no budget, so at present they are very kindly donating their services. So PLEASE come along and show your appreciation for them. They are all excellent published poets, so I am sure that buying books by any/all of them will be money very well spent.

The event aims to offer a diverse array of poets and other contributors, ranging from the literary, through to the comic. Hopefully, there will be something for everyone.

There will also be an open mic slot.

Apart from the poets reading, some author authors will be available to meet in person and sign copies of their books on sale. One already confirmed is Louise Pymer http://chipmunkapublishing.co.uk/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=86.
