Reno Charlton

Reno Charlton, author of children's fantasy Secret Portal II:The Vampire Returns, is in her early thirties and lives in England's West Midlands. She shares her home with her computer engineer husband, Philip, and her ten month old cat, Amber.
Brought up on a mixture of Enid Blyton and Stephen King, Reno started writing fiction in her mid-twenties. One of her earlier short stories, The Journey Home, won a competition judged by Curtis Brown Literary Agents.
It was then that Reno decided to try and fulfil her dream of writing a children's novel. A year or so later, The Secret Portal was born. This was swiftly followed by the sequel, which was published in December 2002.
Reno's love of writing has also led her become a qualified copywriter as well as undertaking a copyediting and proofreading course with Chapterhouse.
Although she currently works full-time for Sanctuary Housing Association, Reno hopes to one day be bale to take up writing for children as a full-time career. Like her previous work, she intends to continue to write fantasy books for children.

The Vampire Returns by Reno Charlton

The new year at Earls Boarding School starts well for Jack Gray and his chums, but danger lurks behinds the seemingly innocent face of Gerry Fellowes. Gerry has been infected by a vampire who escaped from the alternate universe Human Race Studies Academy last year when Jack and his friends accidentally opened a secret portal between the two worlds. The pals’ memories of the alternate universe had been erased so they have no recollection of the events and no hint of the horrors ahead. Friends from the other world are sent to monitor the problem and soon find they need the help of Jack and his gang to contain the evil.

Can Jack and his allies trap and defeat the vampire before he manages to break free of the confines of Gerry’s body, leaving the whole world at risk of being taken over by vampires?
