Bill Davidson

Bill Davidson

Bill Davidson was born in the town of Ayr in south-west Scotland. He was educated at Ayr Academy, and , on leaving school, served his apprenticeship as a printer in Ayr, but moved away from the town after marrying his wife June in 1965. He worked on commercial printing machines and letterpress newspaper presses until his retiral. During this time he worked on one of the first web offset presses to be installed in Scotland. His hobbies include photography and model boats as well as writing. On his retiral, he joined the local writers group, without whose help and encouragement 'The Vision Feather' would not have been written.

The Vision Feather

John Cameron disobeys his grandfather's injunction not to open a carved wooden box on the shelf above the fire and inside it finds an eagle feather. On touching the feather John finds himself in an alien landscape threatened by a mysterious, vaguely glimpsed figure. Fleeing, John encounters a strange man who leads him to the Bird People of River Bend where John learns he is on a Vision Quest and is advised to find an aging seer who should be able to advise him. Accompanied by the beautiful princess of the Bird People, John encounters many life threatening trials before reaching the seer ...

Transported back to his present John finds his quest, far from being over, and no longer a vision, has now entered an even more dangerous, concrete phase ...

A cunningly woven tale of myth, mythical beings, and historical fact - The Cherokee Trail of Tears of 1838 - this story grips the reader all the way to the surprising ending.
